4 months ago – Fri, Nov 21, 2025 at 09:34:56 AM

Hello Mystery Fans,

We did it! We are absolutely elated and incredibly grateful to announce that the Legacy of Eastbrook Hills Kickstarter campaign is officially 100% FUNDED!

It truly came down to the wire, but in the final moments, your dedication and passion pushed us across the finish line. We cannot thank you enough for making this happen. Bringing a new game to life is always an emotional journey, and seeing our community rally in those last hours to unlock this narrative horror experience was nothing short of breathtaking. Thank you for believing in us and helping to bring the dark secrets of Eastbrook Hills into reality!

📝 What Happens Now? Into Pre-Production!

The celebratory phase is brief—our team is already hard at work on the next steps to get this game manufactured and delivered to you!

Our immediate focus is on Pre-Production:

Final Proofreading: We are launching a final, intensive round of proofreading on all narrative text and card files. This is the crucial step of cleaning up the localization to ensure every clue and character interaction is perfect before printing.

File Cleanup: We are finalizing all print files, including box packaging, rulebooks, and component art, making sure they meet the strict quality standards required by our manufacturing partners.

This behind-the-scenes work is essential to ensuring the highest quality for your game, and we will be dedicated to accuracy over speed during this phase.

📅 Your Monthly Status Update Schedule

We believe in keeping our backers informed every step of the way. Moving forward, you can expect a detailed status update from us every month on the Third Thursday.

These updates will cover:

Production Status: Where we are in the printing and manufacturing timeline.

Timeline Check-ins: Any adjustments or confirmations regarding the expected delivery date.

Factory Insights: When available, we will share pictures and video clips from the factory floor so you can watch your game come to life!

Once production is complete, these updates will shift to focus on fulfillment at each shipping region (US, Canada, EU, UK, Asia, and Australia).

We'll also be launching a PTS portal where backers can login and check the status of their order at any time. The portal will follow your individual order from factory to your doorstep.

Thank you again for this incredible campaign. We are thrilled to start this production journey with you!

Why Legacy of Eastbrook Hills? The Making of a "Kolossal" World
5 months ago – Wed, Nov 12, 2025 at 08:15:00 AM

Hello Investigators!

We wanted to pull back the curtain a little and talk about why Legacy of Eastbrook Hills is now a Kolossal Games project.

Kolossal Games has traditionally been known as a powerhouse for creating its own massive games and unique worlds. Our catalog spans over 40 titles, covering a huge range of mechanics and themes. In our early years, our selection was a bit wide, picking up projects that the team simply grew attached to.

Finding Our Focus: The Kolossal World

Over the years, a clear pattern emerged: our biggest successes were games that made players feel completely lost in a large, immersive world. This included our conflict-driven "dudes on a map" titles like Mezo and Ruination, as well as grand world-explorers like Western Legends and Almanac.

This realization led to a focused pivot. We became laser-focused on games that unlocked that sense of a grand, explorable universe—a true "Kolossal world." While this often meant big-box games, it also led us to acquire beloved titles like Inis, Kemet, and Galactic Renaissance from our sister studio, Matagot.

The Detective Game We Couldn't Refuse

When we first sat down with Lavka Games, the idea of a dark detective card game seemed, admittedly, like it wouldn't be the perfect fit for our catalog. But our team had been playing Arkham Horror LCG for years and we couldn’t say no to playing a dark detective game.

However, after Lavka showed us the evocative art and gave us a quick rundown, our interest was piqued. A month later, we played the full game with designer Sergey, and we fell completely in love.

The Brilliance of a Slow Burn Mystery

Legacy of Eastbrook Hills doesn't just present a mystery; it wraps you up in its world and holds you hostage to its secrets. Many great detective games throw a wall of information at you—a mountain of text you must immediately sort to find the relevant clue. While wonderful, these often rely on players quickly filtering data.

Legacy of Eastbrook Hills takes a different, brilliantly executed approach: a slow burn of dread.

The Gentle Introduction: Building the World Before the Horror
The game carefully and slowly draws you in. The opening moments aren't a jump scare; they are an introduction to characters and locations on the outskirts of an old town that seems, at first, merely quiet and forgotten. This deliberate pace is crucial—it establishes a sense of normalcy that the horror elements can later shatter. You are given just enough time to feel comfortable in the world before the sinister undercurrents are revealed. This focused introduction ensures that every player is emotionally grounded and invested in the fates of the people and places you are about to encounter.

The Growing Mystery: Focus on the Anomalies
Piece by piece, the narrative tension builds. Unlike games where you have to wade through twenty clues at once, Eastbrook Hills drip-feeds revelations. This allows your team to intensely focus on each individual piece of the puzzle. This slow, measured delivery is vital for the horror element: it highlights the anomalies. You are given time to question why a certain discovery, character detail, or location description doesn't fit into a "normal" world. The mystery doesn't overwhelm you; it creeps up on you, making the supernatural revelations feel earned, impactful, and deeply unsettling.

Collaborative Investigation: The Shared Burden of Truth
The core gameplay brilliantly enhances the co-operative tension. Instead of keeping clues private, the design mandates that all cards—characters, clues, locations, and topics—are kept visible out on the table for everyone. This is a wonderful, inclusive design choice that encourages constant discussion and full table collaboration. Your team is constantly processing the entire web of the mystery together, debating which routes to explore, which person to question, and which connections haven't yet been made. The shared burden of the truth binds the investigators, making the collective discovery of the town’s horrific secrets that much more powerful.

The brilliant design by Sergey convinced us that this deck of cards unlocks an enormous, compelling world that keeps players invested the entire time. To us, that commitment to deep player immersion made it a true Kolossal Game.
